Wichita Habitat For Humanity and Koch Industries Dedicate Family’s New Home
July 23, 2012
Thanks to a smooth partnership between Wichita Habitat for Humanity and Koch Industries, Inc., Analia Toledo and Marcial Reartes will join the ranks of Wichita’s newest homeowners, moving into a home that they and their three children helped build. Construction of the home was completed in just eleven and a half days by the Toledo-Reartes family and 430 volunteers of Koch companies working a total of 1,965 hours.
A special dedication ceremony will take place July 25th at 10:00 a.m. and will include a ribbon cutting, key presentation and tour. The home is located in Wichita Habitat for Humanity’s Stewart Village, one block west of 44th Street South and Hydraulic.
Ann M. Fox, Wichita Habitat for Humanity Executive Director stated, “Koch employees have an incredible work ethic. We generally plan a build for 20 days, but for this sixth partnership with Koch, we challenged them to build a four bedroom, two bathroom home in twelve days. Wouldn’t you know it? They finished in eleven and a half days; and it might have been quicker if there hadn’t been one rainy day that slowed things down a bit.”
Many of the materials used in the construction of the home were products manufactured by Koch companies, including INVISTA STAINMASTER® carpet and Georgia-Pacific building products. As a housewarming gift, GP also donated a selection of paper products - Brawny® paper towels, Angel Soft® tissue and Dixie® plates and cups.
“This truly was a team effort by the many volunteers of Koch companies,” said Dale Gibbens, vice president of human resources at Koch Industries. “I know I speak for everyone involved with this build when I wish the Toledo-Reartes family much happiness and good fortune in their new home.”
